Jemez: We must respect Valladolid

Paco Jemez has outlined the approach he expects Rayo Vallecano to take in today’s Copa del Rey clash with Real Valladolid.

Rayo travel out to Valladolid today for the first leg of this Round of 32 clash in the Spanish Cup, with the two teams set 17th and 18th in La Liga.

Whilst the Madrid side are a point ahead, their Coach has warned to hold a humility for today.

“The important thing is that we play a good match, whilst in consideration of our opponent,” Jemez told reporters this week.

“Valladolid are a good team, they have good players, they take advantage of errors presented to them and I want my players to have that mentality and to try to win.

“Will I make changes? This game will see some continue to play and others who have not played as much given the chance to show me all the good things that they have.

“Playing one game this week means I can continue to count on some of the regulars, and I also want to look at the maximum number of players I can.

“This is a nice competition to take part in and for players with fewer minutes to have their chance.”

The Coach also commented on links Rayo are in the market for Atletico Madrid’s Cristian ‘Cebolla’ Rodriguez.

“El Cebolla I like. At Atletico there is no-one that I don’t like. They are all good players. We are looking for him to arrive in the same package as Diego Costa and David Villa, if possible.”
