Weligton: Malaga turned the corner

Weligton believes that Malaga have ‘turned a corner’ after their 1-1 draw with Villarreal on Friday.

The Brazilian netted an injury time equaliser at El Madrigal last week, and has insisted that the Costa del Sol outfit have regained confidence with a point.

“It’s always good to score, particularly away to a strong rival,” he told a Press conference.

“Following Samuel’s injury, Villarreal found it more difficult to gain possession. We could have equalised sooner and come away victorious, but the most important thing is that we played well and I hope we continue in the same way.

“We’ve gained in confidence somewhat and hope to put on a strong performance in our next match.  A defeat would have been unfair. We deserved more, and had the penalty on Eliseu been awarded, it could have changed the course of play

“We all felt very positive and are hoping for a good result in the Copa del Rey game.

“The Cup is a great competition and I hope we can go far and take on Madrid.

“We’re determined to play our best football against Osasuna and win at home in front of our fans.

“It’s often very difficult to come out of a negative situation, but a few consecutive wins would see us right back in the game.

“Our confidence levels aren’t very high at the moment, and when you lose a match it’s tough to find the motivation to work hard.

“We need to return to winning ways and ensure we get our confidence back.”
