Ernesto Valverde has insisted that his Athletic Bilbao side will play Barcelona this weekend looking to win.
The Basque side host the Blaugrana on Sunday evening, and the Coach has claimed that his men will face Tata Martino’s men with the intention of claiming three points.
“It is a game everyone is looking forward to,” he told a Press conference. “Barcelona are feared by everyone in this League – their numbers are extraordinary.
“But we are enjoying a good period at the moment and go into this game full of confidence. It will be difficult, they are a great team. But we go into this match hoping to win.
“Their incredible run may have ended against Ajax in the week, but that loss will make them even more on guard.
“They’ll probably want to win even more now.
“To win against Barca you have to play with a lot of intensity. They only needed a point in the Champions League, and perhaps unconsciously took their foot off the gas. But that won’t be the case here.
“It’s obviously better that they come here without Messi and Valdes, but they have other players who fit into the style just as well.”
