Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde believes Malaga can cause his team problems in Monday night’s fixture if the Basques are not careful.
Valverde’s men are looking to improve on an away record that has seen just six points taken from a possible 18, and the tactician is aware it will not be easy against Bernd Schuster’s outfit.
“Malaga is a team that right now needs points as they only have 13. They had a difficult start to La Liga season in terms of fixtures before getting some positive results.
“However, they have had a bad time recently and the loss in their last match at Granada will have hurt them, but they are a team that has changed a lot since last year,” Valverde told a Press conference.
“This game is a good test for us. Apart from the result we want to create a good impression for the rest of the games, especially away from home where it has not been good.
“We need to play well because that will give us confidence, but Malaga could hurt us as they have some good players such as Sergi Darder and Duda,” he warned.
