Caparros: Not Levante’s day

Joaquin Caparros mused that Levante ‘didn’t have the luck required’ to match their efforts against Villarreal on Sunday.

Los Granotes were hit for a 3-0 defeat at home to Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side, after Keylor Navas’ early red card.

“It has been difficult for us for much of the game,” reflected Caparros post-match.

“At the start we had high hopes for the match, but things went against us. The red card for Keylor, Baba’s injury…the team has been reworked, but it was difficult because in these circumstances you also need to be lucky.

“It was not our day. But that is not to detract from Villarreal.

“We were putting in a great effort and it would have been good in the second half to have had more substitutions available.

“One point from the last 12 available? I am focused on recovering my players and working to prepare them as best as possible for the Getafe match.

“There is great equality in the League. And this has been demonstrated. Just when you think you are doing well, you can lose three in a row.”
