Jemez: Rayo are improving

Paco Jemez has admitted that Rayo Vallecano give him cause for optimism, but he warns that a result against Espanyol will have to be worked for.

Sunday sees the Madrid outfit host Los Pericos looking for a result to move them out of the bottom three and follow up Week 13’s pre-international break win at Celta Vigo.

“Yes, we are improving, in terms of results. We are slowly channelling what we do on the field,” Coach Jemez has mused today.

“And this is a game that could see us move out of the relegation zone, but it is against a strong opponent, even as they have been struggling in attack in recent games.

“We continue to follow the path that has been set and it would be worth us doing so under a calmer atmosphere so as to face future commitments. I see the team as improving.

“Espanyol are a hard team, they are compact and have a very competitive squad. We have to do much to disrupt them and exploit every opportunity that we can get.

“Espanyol are a very solid team in defence, difficult and in attack they have variety and quality. We will need to tighten up well and have to be alert. Espanyol are solid.”
