Ronaldo: Probably my best form

Cristiano Ronaldo has acknowledged the strong run in front of goal he is enjoying for Real Madrid and Portugal, admitting it could be the ‘best of my life’.

The 28-year-old has started the 2013-14 campaign in strong form and has reached the middle of November for club and country on 32 goals from 22 matches played, including five hat-tricks.

“All season I have been fine. At the least I prepare for that and try to do my best,” Ronaldo has mused on the subject this week to reporters.

“Perhaps for the number of goals I have then this is the best moment in my life.

“This may be my best season, but I believe that I can always live up to this.

“The Ballon d’Or? I don’t want to talk about that anymore. I am dedicated to doing my best work both for Real Madrid and for Portugal.”

For Portugal, Ronaldo’s four goals over the two legs of their World Cup qualifier against Sweden proved the difference this international break for a 4-2 aggregate win and progression to Brazil 2014.

“I am very happy for my family, who I spoke to after the final whistle. Also for my teammates, for all of the Portuguese, for the people who were with us in the stadium. I always try to give the best to help my team and this will always be so.

“Is it satisfying? Of course, I’m very happy for the accomplishment. We knew we were going to face two very difficult games but in my opinion we have played better in both and were deserving winners.

“Now? These have been very intense days with the national team and now my only goal, like that of all the players, is to work hard for my club, Real Madrid, and to help my teammates.”
