Barca close with Bartra, not Montoya

Barcelona are seen as continuing contract renegotiations with Marc Bartra, but that talks with Martin Montoya have yet to officially begin.

Both youngsters are into the final year of their current deals with the Catalans and in January could be free to negotiate a summer Bosman switch to interested parties.

Whilst Andres Iniesta’s stalled negotiations are seen as taken priority at the club, Sport report that Bartra is also in continuing talks.

The 22-year-old is believed close to agreeing a renewal, with his representative seen as visiting the club earlier this week.

Whilst it is believed clubs with ‘greater economic potential’ from England have been interested in the centre-back, his intent is to agree to stay at the Camp Nou.

However, Montoya’s situation is seen as less advanced, with talks with the full-back seen as having not progressed in recent weeks.

It is also understood that the 22-year-old and his agent have yet to officially meet with the club to start negotiations, but that the player ‘continues to hold hope’.
