Pepe Mel praised Real Betis and their fans for effort before musing on what he felt was the difference against opponents Barcelona in defeat.
The Catalans inflicted a 4-1 defeat on Los Beticos on Sunday evening, despite the hosts starting the match positively.
For their Coach, the fans’ attitude was noteworthy post-match.
“The Betis fans are smart, they reward the effort that we have made because this is a team that is ready to die,” began Mel to reporters.
“I do not know of any fans who still behave as ours do when their team is bottom, I’m proud.
“We came into this to win, we have not stopped Barca playing, we have had no luck, the big difference between a great side and one at the bottom is the accuracy.
“I hate to use the word luck, but we did not have any. There are important games that we have had to win and we have not.”
