‘We need points for our self-esteem’

Juan Ignacio Martinez has insisted that his Real Valladolid side are good enough to beat Valencia tomorrow.

The Pucela travel to the Mestalla on Sunday looking for the three points that could move them up to 12th in the table and away from the relegation places.

“This match is a very important one for us,” he told reporters. “We are in a delicate situation at the moment.

“Both on and off the pitch we are looking to develop. The President is keen to get a foreign sponsor on board, so we have to do our bit on the pitch.

“You look at other teams like Almeria, who are doing well. They are doing their homework and coming away with points in this League.

“I’m confident we’ll do the same at Valencia, We need some points to raise our self-esteem, but I believe we can do it.”
