Escriba: Elche not worse at home

Fran Escriba has denied that his Elche side are playing better this season on the road, as he outlines Week 13 opponents Getafe’s strengths.

The Alicante outfit head out to Madrid this weekend having picked up eight of their 13 points in La Liga away from their own fans.

However, it does not mean anything to the team’s Coach.

“That we have gotten more points on the road than in front of our own fans does not mean that we have been playing better away from the Martinez Valero, because the players have always competed well,” Escriba has countered to reporters today.

“The games are more or less even and at home we have not been weak. The thing is that we have lost games we could have tied against Real Madrid and Villarreal, whilst we have always been at the same level.”

Elche, though, will look to improve further on their away form at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, where hosts Getafe have lost their last two games.

“Getafe are having a very good season, despite their setbacks in their last two games at home. They have an excellent team and will be a very tough opponent.

“They are a team that likes the ball and, furthermore, does not stop running.

“They have many variants in set-play and have a great passing game, so we will have to be very attention throughout the match.”
