Seferovic sorry for goal celebration

Haris Seferovic has apologised for inciting Real Sociedad’s supporters with his goal celebration last weekend.

The Swiss international chose to mark his goal against Osasuna in Week 12 at Anoeta by putting his finger to his lips.

The striker was subsequently whistled when introduced as a second half substitute in the midweek draw with Manchester United and prompted by President Joaquin Aperribay to make amends.

“It was a bad situation for me, I had been a long time without scoring and it was a mistake,” considered Seferovic to reporters today.

“I am sorry, I was wrong. I could not come out before the game against Manchester United, I wanted to go to apologise to all the fans, I hope they forgive me.

“I wanted to explain that it was for my situation and personal and I ask for forgiveness, nothing more. I am working, I need to stay calm and I’m a forward and I want to score goals.

“It is hard to go through a bad spell, but this gesture was a mistake and I apologise. I’m happy, I want to be here, playing and scoring.”

The striker turned his attention to La Real’s Saturday afternoon trip out to Real Madrid.

“Against Madrid it will be a nice game, but we should not give away anything, just as we didn’t against Manchester United, because they are very good.

“We have to play well in attack and improve. They are a team alongside Barca as the best in the world, but we will try to win.”
