Ebert sorry for red card

Patrick Ebert has said he has apologised to his Real Valladolid teammates for his red card at the weekend.

The German was booked for the second time with 15 minutes of his side’s eventual 1-0 defeat at Almeria on Saturday to earn his marching orders.

Even if an appeal is successful, Ebert is likely to be suspended for Valladolid’s trip out to Valencia this weekend, as the first yellow was his fifth of the season.

“I do not know if it was fair or not, but I only committed two fouls in the game,” Ebert has considered this week.

“I admit that I was not correctly in the game, I was very angry, at 110 per cent, we were not playing well and we were losing unfairly.

“It was a game to forget. I should have checked myself a little more and I will try not to repeat it again. I have already apologised to the dressing room.”

The attacking midfielder was quizzed on his angry gestures in leaving the pitch.

“I was angry with myself and with what was happening in the game. It is true that I said some strong words in Spanish, but it was the result of the red card, which in my opinion should not have happened.

“But in any case, they were not aimed at anyone in particular. Either way, I will try for it not to happen again.”
