Valencia lose duo to injury

Valencia have been dealt a blow with both Andres Guardado and Joao Pereira ruled out for the coming weeks with injury.

The duo started Los Che’s 2-1 home defeat to Almeria on Wednesday evening, but respectively picked up complaints during the game.

Mexican Guardado had to be replaced in the 40th minute yesterday in discomfort and has been confirmed as having suffered a hamstring strain that will require a three-week lay-off.

Meanwhile, Portuguese Pereira finished the 90 minutes, but has been found this morning to have strained an adductor muscle in his left leg, ruling him out for up to two weeks.

The pair missed Valencia’s return to training with under-pressure Coach Miroslav Djukic, who elected to run all available players through one workout, rather than separate those who started against Almeria for basic recovery work.
