Escriba can’t wait for San Mames test

Elche play Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, and Fran Escriba has admitted that his side are up against a tough opponent.

The promoted team face Los Leones at the new San Mames tomorrow, and the Coach has admitted it will be a great occasion for his men to play at the recently-opened ground.

“It’s a nice game for us,” he told a Press conference. “Although it’s a new ground, I’ve heard it has the same atmosphere as the old San Mames, which was one of the best places to play.

“Athletic are a great team that like to get down and play good football. They are tight at home though. It’s going to be difficult for us.

“They will want the ball, but can also hit you on the counter-attack. We’ll try to play our own game though, but also try and be tight at the back.

“Everyone in our squad is fit and ready for the game, apart from Richmond Boakye. We do not want to take any risks with him.”
