Rafael Gordillo has given his backing to Pepe Mel, saying that there are ‘no doubts’ over the Coach’s future at Real Betis.
Los Beticos have dropped into the relegation zone for recent form, with a 5-0 defeat on Sunday evening away to Atletico Madrid making for a disappointing first 10 weeks of the season.
However, one of the club’s former favourites on the field, who has served as President and in several directorial positions at the Benito Villamarin, does not see pressure building on the Coach.
“This is a complicated time. There is much work to do, but we knew that here we faced a tough opponent who are doing well,” Gordillo, who as current President of the club’s Foundation, reiterated to Canal + yesterday Miguel Guillen’s message from last week.
“To start the game and find them ahead after only a few seconds, it’s complicated.
“We have not been good. We went out in the second half and continued, but when they scored again it decided the game.
“We have to close this page. With Pepe Mel’s position, I have not given thought, there are no doubts and we are all behind him. Everyone must give their support.”
