Pep: Barca-Tito visit private

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he was in Barcelona yesterday, but refused to confirm if it was to meet with Tito Vilanova.

The two former Barca Coaches were reported today by Mundo Deportivo as having met yesterday afternoon in a hotel in the city.

The duo’s close friendship has been seen since 2012 as having broken down, with reports indicating and Vilanova commenting that the manner of his succession to the Camp Nou bench in place of Guardiola may have been the cause.

Guardiola was reported by Mundo Deportivo as having flown out to Catalonia yesterday, though, and seen as having spent six hours in the company of Vilanova, who is recovering from a third diagnosis of throat cancer.

Whilst confirming today that he did make that journey, the Bayern Munich Coach refused to go into further detail.

“It’s private. Yes, I was in Barcelona yesterday, but it is a private matter,” Guardiola responded to reporters at a conference ahead of Bayern’s Champions League match with Viktoria Plzen.
