Schuster happy to be back at Madrid

Bernd Schuster will be back at Santiago Bernabeu tomorrow for the first time since being sacked by Real Madrid in 2008.

Malaga face Los Blancos on Saturday afternoon, and the German Coach has insisted that it will be a ‘pleasure’ to return.

“I’m happy to return as a Coach to the Bernabeu,” he told a Press conference. “It’s the first time I’ve been there since leaving Madrid.

“I’ve told the players that it is a great pleasure to play there. To play against Madrid at the Bernabeu will be nice for me and my players.

“Hopefully we can play our football and try to do our own game. Madrid will be dangerous for 90 minutes, and they are probably in need of a big win.

“With the likes of Cristiano, Benzema and DI Maria, it’s not hard for us to raise our game.

“At Madrid the demand is huge. You are obliged to do well and win titles every year. Sometimes as a Coach you have to take action.

“I’ve not seen anything strange from Ancelotti so far. I understand perfectly the position he’s in.”

Schuster then had some words of advice for Iker Casillas.

“He’s taking it all very calmly. It’s a complicated situation. It’s the hardest situation for a player who has won everything.

“Iker is at an age where he can still play for any top team. Life does not begin and end in Madrid. There are other places he can go.

“You could have never imagined Raul playing in Qatar – but football is like that.”
