‘Elche are getting better, but…’

Fran Escriba is enthusiastic for Elche’s recent form, but warns of the pitfalls that a home match with Espanyol represent.

The promoted outfit moved out of the relegation zone last weekend with a first win of the season away to Celta Vigo.

This Saturday for Week 8 they host Javier Aguirre’s team with their Coach optimistic but respectful.

“The team is growing and I will not deny that we are getting better, but we cannot ignore that each of our opponents are difficult,” reflected Escriba in today’s Press conference.

“Espanyol have a great team and a Coach that I admire. They have started very well whilst they have good players.

“They are very intense and active in looking to retrieve possession as quickly as possible. They have very dynamic individuals and are dangerous in attack for the quality that they have.

“We will remain the same, though – with great enthusiasm and the fans have seen this when we have played at home.

“We need our supporters, because this game is going to be very tight. If it was otherwise then it would be a surprise.”
