Pepe: No problems with anyone

Pepe has reflected on the Real Madrid players’ meeting this week with Carlo Ancelotti and remarked that he ‘has no problems with anyone’.

Los Blancos’ dressing room notably held a 25-minute meeting with Ancelotti and assistant Zinedine Zidane on Monday morning, to clear the air after the weekend’s defeat in the derby to Atletico Madrid.

During the meeting, it is alleged that the players also called up Pepe for his on-pitch criticism of Karim Benzema, which forced Sergio Ramos’ intervention.

“I have no problems with anyone, we are footballers and these cases must stay inside the group,” Pepe remarked about Benzema to Canal + after yesterday’s Champions League win over Copenhagen.

“I think that yes, the meeting served a purpose and more so for the older players to direct the ship and tell the younger ones what Real Madrid means.”

The defender was talking after Madrid’s 4-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu maintained their 100 per cent start to the Champions League campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel di Maria continued runs of form to net twice each in the encounter.

“For the work of the group, it is better that everyone excels, more so than one, two, three or four players. I want to highlight the whole team.

“We had to put out of our minds that our opponents had managed a draw in the last game with Juventus, which was deserved.

“The most important thing is that we played a great game.”
