‘Madrid don’t need to play well’

Pedro Lopez has reflected on the task facing his Levante teammates this weekend in hosting Real Madrid.

Los Granotes play host to Los Blancos this Saturday evening having frustrated the League challengers in recent seasons at Ciutat de Valencia.

Joaquin Caparros’ side are also unbeaten since Week 1, but, as one of their defenders has commented today, nothing is being taken for granted.

“Against us, Madrid do not have to play well to win because they have very good individuals,” mused Lopez to reporters today.

“Often we are at the mercy of those with so much talent and they have so much quality. Against these players, who are the best in the world, you cannot get distracted.

“Previous years they have struggled here, but I think that every game has its story. That it cost them two years ago here does not mean that it will be easy now.

“We must be brave and push forward and hopefully we will have chances and put them under pressure during the game.

“We are currently in a comfortable position in the League, but that does not mean that we will relax, we want to score as many points as we can and win at home for the fans.

“After the Barcelona game [lost 7-0 in Week 1], there were few that gave Levante a chance and in the following games we have not lost, we hope to continue this run.”
