Ernesto Valverde admitted that he will have to reflect on Athletic Bilbao’s preparation after being left ‘without words’ for defeat to Granada.
The Basque Country outfit fell to a third consecutive defeat on the road thanks to a second-half double from Youssef El-Arabi on Monday evening.
“I have no words to explain the game,” conceded Valverde post-match.
“We have given a completely different account of ourselves. Granada has adapted better to the pressure and we have been outplayed. We expected more of ourselves and I have to reflect on how we prepared for the game.
“The penalty award? Talking about that is nonsense, it is the second goal that has been important, as that has determined the game.”
