Elche appeal Sanchez booking

Elche have appealed the second yellow card shown to midfielder Carlos Sanchez, just as the referee for the Real Madrid game is punished.

Muniz Fernandez drew the ire of Sanchez and his teammates for the award of a stoppage time penalty to Real Madrid for the midfielder’s apparent foul on Pepe.

Sanchez continued his protests after the final whistle and was shown a second yellow card, provisionally suspending him from Elche’s next match, this Sunday’s trip to Celta Vigo.

However, the club have appealed that second booking, arguing the case that Sanchez’s complaints followed on from having not fouled Pepe in the award of the penalty.

Meanwhile, the Referee Technical Committee (CTA) are seen to have ‘punished’ Muniz Fernandez for his decisions in that game by taking him out of consideration to officiate fixtures in Week 7 and Week 8 of La Liga.
