Atletico Madrid may have to do without Mario Suarez for Saturday’s derby with Real Madrid, after he picked up a knee injury yesterday.

After colliding with an opponent, the midfielder was forced off at the halfway mark of Atleti’s 2-1 win at home to Osasuna.

Whilst it was initially believed to be just down to a knock, the club have today confirmed that Suarez has in fact suffered a sprain to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Subsequently, it is believed that the 26-year-old is now a doubt to recover in time for Week 7’s trip out to the Santiago Bernabeu to face city rivals Real Madrid.
