Real Sociedad sporting director Loren has confirmed that a loan bid for Jonathan dos Santos is in the Barcelona midfielder’s hands.
La Real are seen as having come back in for the 23-year-old Mexican this month as emergency cover for Esteban Granero, who faces a spell on the sidelines with knee ligament damage.
Dos Santos was originally a loan target for the San Sebastian outfit this summer, but upon Tata Martino’s arrival at the Camp Nou as Coach, opted to stay with Barca and fight for his place.
With reports in some sections of the Press suggesting that the player’s mindset has not changed, La Real’s sporting director has urged him to make clear his intentions, to avoid this developing into a saga.
“It is the player that has to take the next step,” Loren told reporters today.
“There is much respect for Barcelona, whilst we also respect the decision made by the player in August and we do not feel entitled to stir an issue that is closed.
“It is down to the player to say that he wants to come here to us. That is the only way. We will not make a move. The fact is that we are closer to is it is Jonathan or nothing.”
