Pereira: It’s just the one game

Joao Pereira has warned that Valencia are not yet out of the woods, despite easing pressure on their Coach at the weekend.

Los Che recorded only a second League win of the season in Week 5, defeating Sevilla 3-1, in a game that reports suggested was do or die for Coach Miroslav Djukic.

“It is not just the Coach, I think that it is everyone, when we win, we all win and when we lose, we all do so, but it is easier to remove a Coach then it is 25 players,” mused Pereira this week on recent events.

“Everyone was worried, whilst we are aware that we have only won one game and we must continue.

“We spoke a lot during the week after two very difficult defeats ad we knew that if we were to turn it around then it would be all together, united.

“We knew we had to give everything, we were all angry, we wanted to win more than anything and sometimes people think we do not.

“Why the poor start? It lies in the way we play, we lost fewer balls on Sunday, we were stronger in the game, we did not concede an early goal and we followed up their equaliser to achieve the victory, which we think was deserved.”

The full-back reflected on the mood in the dressing room.

“The players are the ones that have to do more if we lose. If you do not do anything worthwhile, no-one is going to give it to you. There is no division in the dressing room.

“We are the ones that have to fight for the win, no-one else will do it. Sunday we went on to the pitch and the fans were with us from the first minute.

“They ask us to give it everything and if we do so and we still lose, they at least know that we have fought.”
