Escriba: No match is lost

Fran Escriba won’t be writing off the midweek match with Real Madrid to prioritise games either side with Osasuna and Celta Vigo.

The promoted outfit face trips to potential relegation rivals Osasuna in Week 5 and then to Celta Vigo in Week 7, either side of a home test with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

“No match is lost before playing,” Escriba reflected to reporters this week.

“I may be mistaken or not, but I will always pick an XI that I believe will win the game.

“I am thinking, though, only of Friday’s game [with Osasuna] and to win that. I will not rest anyone, or take any game as being lost.

“We all know what Osasuna are like in their own stadium, we know their enthusiasm and that of their fans.

“They come out very aggressive and push, we will have to do the same and play to our strengths to win.

“The idea is to hit them from the first minute and impose our rhythm. We have to be smart and know how to read the game during different sections.”
