Casillas suffers suspected bruising

Initial reports are that Iker Casillas’ injury suffered for Real Madrid yesterday is not much more than bruising along the rib cage.

The goalkeeper was handed a first start of the season for Los Blancos in their eventual 6-1 Champions League win at Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

However, his night lasted just 15 minutes, after being forced off hurt having collided with teammate Sergio Ramos.

On from Carlo Ancelotti’s assessment that the injury yesterday looked to be ‘nothing serious’, early indications are that Casillas has suffered only a bruising along the rib cage.

Madrid’s initial medical report is believed to have suggested this, ruling out a break, but it has also run the line that the player’s cartilage ‘has been affected’.

The 32-year-old will undergo definitive tests on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sergio Ramos posted the above image yesterday evening, with the message: “Leaving for home sat beside…ahem… Lol. Someone wants to kill me today! It’s nothing and he will be back soon.”
