Jemez looks to Rayo unity

Paco Jemez mused that it was ‘a good day to be in Rayo Vallecano’s dressing room’ despite their 5-0 defeat to Malaga.

In just the team’s fourth fixture of the season this Sunday evening they conceded five times for the second occasion.

However, unlike after the Atletico Madrid thrashing in Week 2, this fixture at La Rosaleda saw a more positive Rayo Coach emerge.

“It’s a good day to be in the dressing room of Rayo Vallecano,” Jemez commented to reporters post-match.

“These are things they have to go through and when they do so they have to be together, to encourage and help the guys who messed up.

“I like being with my team especially when things go wrong, more so than when they are good and it is a good day to be in that dressing room and to convey that we are still proud of them.

“We are with them and it is them that will give us much joy and we have to more forward.

“The problem is that people get too carried away with results. Malaga played a great game, they showed that they are well organised.

“But they also did last week and the previous week and next week. For the fact that they won 5-0 does not make them any better a team than a week ago.”
