‘Getafe is Osasuna’s turning point’

Andres Fernadnez says that Osasuna must look at next weekend’s match with Osasuna as a ‘turning point’ to their season.

The Pamplona outfit head out to Madrid on Sunday afternoon for Week 4’s fixture bottom of the table having lost their opening three games of the season.

“We must be clear that the Getafe match has to be a turning point for us to gain confidence, to move forward as a team, little by little,” Andres offered to reporters today.

“It is a very important game against a team that is also not doing very well and we can take advantage.

“We have to target getting these points as if they were the last of our life and starting from there on, working every day.

“There is enough time to catch up on the new Coach’s new ideas before the game, and then we can progress on a philosophy that is totally different to Jose Luis Mendilibar’s.”

The goalkeeper was talking in reference to Mendilibar’s sacking making way for Javi Gracia.

“Before anything else, [Mendilibar] is a person. The entire staff knew him as a good person, honest and hardworking, even as his ideas were perhaps not carried out fully here.

“Javi Gracia is very involved, eager to work, very honest. He has great enthusiasm. He wants to convey confidence in us and looks quite hungry to progress as a Coach and as players so do we.”
