Cartabia: I may leave Valencia

Fede Cartabia has admitted that if he does not earn a regular spot at Valencia, then he may have to find another team in January.

The 20-year-old youth team graduate had featured prominently for Los Che under Miroslav Djukic in preseason and debuted for the first team in Week 1’s win over Malaga.

However, having dropped out since then, the Argentine has conceded that his long-term ambition to succeed at the club may involved a short-term future away from it.

“The first thing is to work and demonstrate what I can contribute and then if the Coach sees that I can play, then good,” Cartabia told reporters this week.

“If I do not have an opportunity then I will look for a way out in January.

“If the club sees fit for me to develop outside then I will. We will look at the best options so as to play minutes, if it is in the Primera then all the better to then come back here and succeed.

“I have just begun here, I have international players in front of me and it is normal that I am not first choice for the Coach.

“Out of the team despite playing well against Malaga? It’s all a matter of working every day. If not, then I will try to continue working well to win the battle.

“It is a Coach’s decision, we must respect it and work to convince him.”
