Atleti pay out €51m in tax

Atletico Madrid have reportedly made a payment of €51m to the Spanish tax authorities, as part of over €100m in expenses in the last two months.

The club has been known as holding a substantial debt with the Hacienda, even as figures on how much is owed continue to be unclear, varying from €100m through to €250m.

However, AS understand that Atleti have included a substantial payment on what they owe as part of expenses of around €100m paid out in the last two months.

It is believed that the capital outfit have paid €51m to Hacienda, who are reported as being owed as much as €700m from Spain’s clubs combined.

The payment is apparently matched by a similar outlay at the club in the same period to cover money owed on loans, transfer payments on players due and player salaries.

Atleti, who invested little in the transfer window just closed, are believed to have pulled in as much as €60m this summer for the sale of Radamel Falcao, and are expected to earn at least €30m from the Champions League this coming season.
