Report: Bale is a Madrid player

Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player and will be for the next six seasons, according to reports in the Spanish Press.

AS have claimed that the Tottenham winger terminated his contract at White Hart Lane on Friday morning, and will be officially announced as a Blancos signing shortly.

Sources in England indicate that the move is for a world-record €101m, whilst the Madrid-based paper believe it to be a more modest €91m.

Bale is set to earn €7m per season, after tax, and will also keep 60 per cent of his image rights. It is the first time a Santiago Bernabeu player has crossed the 50 per cent threshold. Cristiano Ronaldo, for example, owns 40 per cent of his image rights.

It is now just up to the lawyers to tie up the loose ends, and the deal will then be finalised.

The 24-year-old will be the 13th British player to represent Real Madrid, and the first from Wales.
