Mendilibar: We must have faith

Jose Luis Mendilibar has urged his Osasuna side to have more belief in their work and to keep their heads up as they prepare for Week 2.

Los Rojillos look to put Week 1’s home defeat to Granada behind them with a positive result in Friday evening’s Week 2 trip out to rivals Athletic Bilbao.

“During the season we are going to face everything and we have to keep our heads up,” Mendilibar told reporters today.

“In the Primera Division, opportunities to make up for a defeat come fast. I believe that we are well, other than those who are injured, we have strength.

“Sometimes it seems that we do not believe in what we do. You can have doubts at points in a game, but you cannot be full of doubts.

“Do I have a message for fans? I won’t send messages from the Pressroom, what really matters is what happens on the pitch.”

Mendilibar clarified that a video session with the players held on Tuesday to analyse the weekend defeat ‘clarified quite a bit’.

“Those [in the team] who have wanted to talk have spoken.

“The errors are not only those of the players, but also those that we can make as Coaches. But the first thing we say in analysing the videos is that we are not looking for blame.

“We do everything as a collective. Tomorrow is a different game against a different opponent. The day is different and so is the opponent, but I believe that we have had a good video session.”
