Joao Pereira is happy to see his Valencia side begin the season with a win, as he values the morale boost in the dressing room.
Los Che picked up a scrappy 1-0 win over Malaga on Saturday to start 2013-14 with three points, in a game their Portuguese full-back has reflected was more valuable for the result than the performance.
“It is always better to start with a win. It is very important for the morale of the players,” admitted Pereira this week.
“It was key to start with the three points because last year we did not start well and then we had problems.
“We did not play very well, but we would all choose to win rather than to play well.
“We had a lot of chances to score but we were prepared and when you cannot win by two or three goals, it is better to win 1-0.
“Can we push for a title this season? To think that we can win anything not is not important. We have to go step by step.”
