Punal calls for Osasuna patience

After opening day defeat to Granada, Osasuna captain Patxi Punal has called on fans and media alike to give his team some time.

Los Rojillos began the 2013-14 League campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to relegation rivals from last season, prompting early discontent.

“We must turn the page and think about Athletic,” commented Punal to reporters today.

“It is only one game and we must have a little patience. That relating to Granada has passed and we must now think towards Athletic.

“I ask for a little tranquillity and calmness. There is much still to happen and the season has barely begun.

“Football is like this and there is no middle ground. When things are going well it is total euphoria. And when things are not going well, it is the other way.

“I hope that this year we have more joy than disappointment. Yesterday we played well.

“We are going to work hard and fight, as we do every year. It is never easy here and you have to give everything and suffer.

“We have taken some criticism but it is not too late for anything.”
