Sevilla line up Medel replacement

Sevilla are close to completing a deal for Levante midfielder Vicente Iborra to replace the departed Gary Medel.

The Andalusians are reported to have reached agreement with Iborra and are just waiting for the green light from Levante, who have been offered between €4m and €4.5m plus the loan of a Sevilla player, thought to be striker Baba Diawara who has disappointed since a January 2012 move from Maritimo.

However, Levante are in no mood to let the 25-year-old, a product of the club’s youth system, leave for less than the €6m release clause in his contract, a figure they have never tired of repeating over the summer.

Even so, Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido is confident of pushing a deal through at a reduced sum, given he is willing to pay a significant part of the transfer fee directly and not in instalments, something that could appeal to Los Granotes.
