Malaga, Athetic Bilbao and Real Sociedad all lost to English opposition in friendly matches on Saturday.
Bernd Schuster’s men played Aston Villa at Villa Park, and went down 3-2 to the Premier League side, thanks to two first half strikes from Christian Benteke and one from Ron Vlaar.
At St.Mary’s Stadium, La Real lost 4-3 to Southampton in a pulsating encounter. The Saints took the lead three times only to be pulled back by the Basques. However, a late Jason Puncheon goal gave the South Coast club the victory.
In Wales meanwhile, Andoni Iraola’s second half goal wasn’t enough for Los Leones as they lost 2-1.
