Galeano hopes to impress at Rayo

New Rayo Vallecano signing Leonel Galeano says he is hoping to create a big impression at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

The 22-year-old central defender was snapped up from Independiente de Avellanada during the summer for an undisclosed fee, and made his debut in the 2-1 weekend defeat to Academica Coimbra, when he played 89 minutes.

“I’m looking forward to showing what I can do and making a big impression so I can earn a place in the team,” he told Rayo’s official website.

“My teammates have treated me really well and I need to continue like this, training doing things right so I can reach the highest level.

“I’m very happy with my first game, although the team has still to get into a rhythm. On a personal level I feel quite good, although it’s still pre-season and I need to correct a few things and prepare well physically.”

Galeano becomes Rayo’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of midfielders Raul Baena and Saul Niguez, striker Nery Castillo and Colombian defender Johan Mojica.
