Denis Cheryshev has thanked Real Madrid for his new contract and made himself available to ‘accept any decision of the club’.
The Russian Under-21 international, who recently penned a contract extension through to June 2017, continued his run in preseason with the senior squad by appearing in their 3-1 win overnight against LA Galaxy.
“I am grateful to the club for the opportunity that they have provided me. I have spent a lifetime fighting for this and I am very happy,” enthused Cheryshev post-match.
“I will accept any decision of the club and will abide with pleasure by the Coach for any decision made about my future.
“I am not thinking about my future, now I am enjoying this tour. I am happy and will fight to the end to stay here.
“The Coach is giving many opportunities to the younger players, this is a great step taken by the club. The cantera is full of worthy players.”
Cheryshev played the full 90 in Phoenix and was again used at full-back, despite his background as a winger and forward.
“Defensively I have to work a little more, but I am slowly adjusting to the full-back position. I have to improve defensively, whilst I consider myself an attacking player.
“I’m listening to the Coach and to [assistant Zinedine] Zidane, who gives me tips on how to adapt as quickly as possible.
“I want to learn from the best, such as Marcelo and [Fabio] Coentrao.”
