Costa welcomes Postiga deal

Ricardo Costa has backed Valencia’s move to replace Roberto Soldado with Helder Postiga and says he is ready to become club captain.

Soldado is poised to complete a move to Tottenham this week, just as Los Che are ready to confirm the arrival of former Spurs man Postiga in his place.

The Portuguese forward scored 14 goals in La Liga last term for Real Zaragoza and has been welcomed to Mestalla by his teammate at international level.

“Postiga is a striker for the penalty area, very quick, he moves very well,” began Costa to reporters today.

“And that will help us in the position we face and what we stand to lose with the departure of our captain [Soldado].

“Postiga arrive here in the best moment of his career, he is mature and complete as a player.”

Costa stands to inherit the captain’s armband from Soldado.

“I will face the responsibility as I have the first day that I arrived at Valencia.

“Leadership comes naturally and is a part of a person and it is shown in the image and work that you present every day.”
