‘Dos Santos wants La Real’

Carlos Vela has admitted that Jonathan dos Santos is convinced of Real Sociedad, but his move there is down to Barcelona.

The midfielder is confirmed by La Real as the subject of negotiations for a loan move to Anoeta this summer, only for Barca’s change of Coach in the last 10 days to have seemingly delayed things.

Whilst Gerardo Martino is seen as likely to meet with Dos Santos this week, the Mexican’s international colleague and current Real Sociedad striker has admitted already talking to him of the prospect of his move to San Sebastian.

“I’d love for someone from my own country to come, to be here on the day to day, personally it would be good as well as sporting, he would be a good signing for La Real,” Vela enthused to reporters today.

“Yes I have spoken with him, of course, and he is happy, because he already knows how good it is here, but it no longer depends on him, it is now down to Barca and they have to make that decision.”

Dos Santos is seen as Real Sociedad’s replacement for Asier Illarramendi, who left to join Real Madrid earlier this summer.

“If someone doesn’t look good from this then I cannot understand it, it is good for everyone, I am happy for Illarra, he cannot turn down that opportunity, he is a great player and I hope he is a success in Madrid.”

Real are in the hat for the Champions League play-off round, where victory would place them in the group stages. For Vela, of the possible opponents to face, one stands out.

“Just by name Milan is the one I’d like the most, and for their history. However, every team is great and complicated, but it is possible if we do things right.”
