Gareth Bale is desperate to sign for Real Madrid, but according to reports in England, Tottenham are still set to reject a €98.5m bid.
BBC Sport have claimed this afternoon that the north London club are likely to turn down an £85m bid from Los Blancos as chairman Daniel Levy plays hard-ball over his star man.
Leading Spanish newspapers Marca and AS have insisted that the Wales international is ‘only interested in playing for Real Madrid’, with reports also suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti’s could part with €60m, plus Angel Di Maria and Fabio Coentrao.
The Santiago Bernabeu team are set to ‘formalise’ their interest in the 24-year-old over the coming weeks, but the BBC believe that Andre Villas-Boas’ side are still confident they can persuade Bale to stay for another season.
