‘We will not sell Fabregas’

Barcelona Vice-President Josep Maria Bartomeu has reiterated that the club will not sell Cesc Fabregas this summer to Manchester United.

The English side have confirmed their interest in and the existence of two offers made for the 26-year-old this summer, with it reported today that he is preparing for the transfer.

However, at Gerardo Martino’s presentation, the Catalans’ Vice-President fielded the questions regarding the former Arsenal man’s future.

“That United are showing an interest in Cesc is good for, they are a big club so it is flaterring that they want one of our players,” reflected Bartomeu to reporters today.

“But whatever bid arrives for him, we will not sell. He is not for sale.

“Tata and Andoni Zubizarreta have said this too, even if an offer was to come in, we will not sell. We are happy with him.”

Bartomeu also commented on Barca’s decision-making process regarding Martino.

“When Tata’s name came up, I thought ‘well he’s the Paraguayan Coach’, that’s where I knew him from.

“We thought he hadn’t trained in Europe, but Zubizarreta convinced us, made us believe that he is a Coach that fits into our style.

“It was a quick operation, Zubizarreta’s proposal was widely accepted by the board.”
