‘Impossible for Martino to fail’

One of Gerardo Martino’s former Coaches has enthused at the prospect of the Argentine being handed the Barcelona job.

Reports in Spain strongly believe that the 50-year-old has reached an agreement to come in and replace Tito Vilanova, who stepped down as Coach of the Catalans last Friday.

For Martino’s former Coach, who worked with him as a player at Newell’s Old Boys in the late 1980s, ‘Tata’ will do well at the Camp Nou.

“Martino will win almost every game in Barcelona,” Jose Yudica enthused to Marca today.

“It is impossible for him to fail with that team. This is a reward for what he has done in the last three or four years.

“There is immense joy because he has been a great guy and hardworking.”

Martino is drawing comparison with Marcelo Bielsa for his style.

“Martino and Bielsa are different. They work differently and make different decisions.

“Martino knows how to select his players. The only way to be a champion is through this.

“Martino knows how to manage groups. Bielsa, sometimes, does not.”
