Weligton: Malaga now more organised

Malaga defender Weligton feels that despite the sale of some important players the club is now more organised.

The Costa del Sol outfit reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season and the Brazilian [pictured, left] is aware things might be different during the forthcoming 2013-14 campaign.

“Needless to say this year is going to be quieter than last. However, after all we’ve been through if anything is good then it is the organisation at the club. It is more structured and there is now someone we can talk to and discuss things with.

“Our wages are up to date, apart from a bonus payment we are still owed, but I think all clubs in Spain owe bonuses and thank God it’s only sport we are focused on,” the experienced 33-year-old declared during an early Saturday Press conference at Malaga’s pre-season training camp in Bitburg, Germany.

With new boss Bernd Schuster now having 20 professionals at his disposal the squad is beginning to take shape, although there are still more signings yet to arrive.

“Ideally some new signings will come in as quickly as possible. That means we can plan the team so we are able to continue fighting for the important things.

“We have a good group of players and this is one of the few clubs where people welcome newcomers with open arms and try to help them as much as possible.

“For example, [Carlos] Kameni and Fabrice can do much to help [new signing] Bobley Anderson on the pitch, and we will provide him with as much help off it.”

In the meantime, Weligton revealed he is on the verge of securing dual nationality after applying for a Spanish passport.

“Things are being sorted out but I’ve had a few problems. I think I left the papers in the hands of somebody that wasn’t up to it, although everything is now back on track.

“I don’t know if it will happen in time for football, but maybe later in life,” he explained.
