Betis’ Benat figures ‘false’

Josu Urrutia has declared that Real Betis’ reported figures for the transfer of Benat Etxebarria to Athletic Bilbao are ‘false’.

Betis agreed to sell the playmaker to the Basque Country outfit in the last week of June, with it believed to be for a fee of around €8m.

The Andalucians’ sporting director Vlada Stosic suggested this week that the transfer’s true value was actually €11.75m, but Athletic have now refuted this.

“I do not know if Stosic has made these statements,” offered Athletic President Urrutia to reporters this week.

“But the figures you have are false.”
