Roberto Lago has admitted that he opted for 'stable' Getafe as his move from Celta Vigo was completed on Friday.
The 27-year-old has joined the Azulones after his contract with the Celestes expired on July 1.
And the left-back has conceded that he wants to take the club to Europe next term.
“I'm flattered that the President said he noticed all those years ago in a youth game between Getafe and Celta Vigo,” he told reporters.
“There were two other teams interested in me, both with great potential. But in the end I opted for a stable club – one that has been in the Primera for 10 years.
“The goal we must aim for is Europe.”
