Tello hesitant on Barca deal

Cristian Tello is reportedly reluctant to increase his buyout clause at Barcelona due to the increased competition for places in the team.

Barca were reported last week as eager to increase the 21-year-old’s buyout clause from €10m up to a flat €18m.

Currently, the player’s contract stipulates that the buyout clause is set based on the percentage of games Tello features in for a certain number of minutes.

Having failed to see enough game time to see the clause hit €18m or the next step of €16m, it currently sits at €10m, the same level it was at before the winger signed a renewal at the end of 2012.

With a number of clubs including Liverpool and Atletico Madrid said to be considering a move this summer for Tello, Barca have reportedly been pushing for a renewal that would increase his buyout clause to €18m, without an appearance qualification necessary.

However, Marca report that the club’s capture of Neymar from Santos and continued rumours of a move for another forward this summer has Tello reluctant to sign any new contract.

AS say that Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and Vice-President Josep Maria Bartomeu will meet with Tello’s representative Jose Maria Orobitg in the coming days to determine the situation.
