Sevilla have confirmed that after tests carried out this week, full-back Cicinho will undergo surgery on a knee injury and face six months in recovery.
The 26-year-old was confirmed at the start of June as having suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
It was determined that the injury, picked up on the final day of the 2012-13 season against Valencia, would be assessed after an initial three-week period.
Tests have subsequently been carried out this week and the Andalucian club have confirmed that surgery has been determined as the best course of action.
The player will now undergo an operation in the coming days and is set for a six-month recovery period.
